KeyBank is an American regional bank headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. PLAYGROUND had the opportunity to collaborate with KeyBank in creating the API portal (a platform that allows companies to easily share information and data across real-time)

Our research strategy relies on intimate user interviews to understand their challenges, expectations, and preferences. These provide valuable insights into their needs and aspirations.

Our Users (developers):

  • Role: Primary users interacting with the API portal for integration purposes.

  • Needs: Seamless navigation, clear documentation, and easily accessible resources.

  • Pain Points: Complex integrations, unclear documentation, and time-consuming onboarding.​

Feature Ideation: We collaborated with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and generate innovative solutions, addressing user needs and enhancing the user experience.​

Competitor Analysis:

To position our product strategically in the market, we conducted a thorough analysis of competitors in the financial services API landscape. This involved scrutinizing the features, functionalities, and user interfaces of similar API portals. By benchmarking against industry leaders, we identified emerging trends and determined which features were essential for success in our product. This competitive analysis became a pivotal factor in shaping our design decisions and prioritizing features that would set us apart in the market.

Outcome: Informed and Insight-Driven Design

The culmination of user interviews, persona development, feature ideation, and competitor analysis empowered our team with a rich tapestry of insights. Armed with a deep understanding of user needs and market trends, we transitioned seamlessly into the design phase, confident that our solutions would not only address user pain points but also position KeyBank as a frontrunner in the evolving landscape of financial services APIs.
